Which Gresham Blake Store to you work at? How long have you been working at Gresham Blake?
How long have you been working as a Tailor? How are you experienced in this field?
I have been menswear tailoring since January but was a luxury Bridal and occasionwear stylist and fitter as well as manager for 12 years after completing a degree in Fashion and experience in wholesale merchandising and colour analysis. I do the majority of the Womenswear tailoring here at Gresham Blake, dedicating each Wednesday in our Shoreditch store to womeswear.
As well as an interest in fashion and tailoring, what keeps you entertained outside office hours?
Give us a glimpse into your personality…. I like to push myself physically, especially weight training and running so I like to be in the gym or outdoors as much as I can. I ‘m a sunshine lover so spend my days off at the beach in the summer. I live for my holidays, lifetime experiences, good food, wine, friends and family, company, a good cocktail and my cat.
You must see and create a lot of different suits in your role, what type of suit ‘excites’ you the most?
I really love designing wedding suits as they are so special and such a one off. It’s genuinely a great experience to work with a Bride and Groom for this. Being so experienced in the wedding industry really helps with this. I have a great eye for colour and what combinations work well together which is important for wedding colour schemes.
What type of fabric do you enjoy working with the most and why?
I love working with Tweeds, pattern and texture. Any cloth which has accents of colour that can be incorporated in other aspects of the suit and styling is really fun to work with. Adding in some velvet, cord or coloured trimming can really make a suit extra special. Flannel is super snuggly and soft and mixed with a bit of leather looks great.
What is your most memorable creation, why?
My most memorable suit so far is an olive green Holland & Sherry Mohair pinstripe 3 piece suit with gold and red lining for a groom. It fit him beautifully and required no alteration. He was so pleased with it he ordered another on the spot.
What’s the most bizarre request you have had?
As a rare female tailor I can get many unusual requests. Nearly always a client loves my input and will go with my advice and suggestion. After all men come here to dress to impress and I am lucky that I can offer a woman’s point of view.
What do you think makes Gresham Blake Ltd unique from other tailoring brands?
Gresham Blake has such a beautiful mixture of fun prints and exciting ready to wear garments mixed with traditional tailoring the possibilities are endless. I have so much fun with my clients experimenting with different looks and styles. We really cater for anyone and everyone and their personality, it’s great that each suit is so different. It's never a dull day.
Who’s your suit-wearing hero?
Daniel Craig, every day of the week.
What style of suit do you prefer to wear yourself?
I like a very sharp, well fitted suit with a pencil skirt in a houndstooth or a royal blue with an accent of velvet somewhere. I like a timeless elegant look that won’t date too much.
I love my job because …
There’s nothing quite like being able to advise a client on what will suit them and then make it happen. Their joy when they see themselves in the finished article is amazing to witness
