Vougue, Feature - 2002
As the burgeoning hotspot of all things cool, Brighton has produced a number of star fashion designers, and Gresham Blake is one of them.
Having graduated from Brighton University (also the alma mater of Givenchy designer Julien Macdonald), Blake already counts Jay Kay and Brighton-rockers Norman Cook and Zoe Ball among the devotees of his bespoke suits for men and women.""My style is difficult to describe because it is 80 per cent me and the other 20 per cent is all about the customer,"" he says. ""It isn't fashion design as such, because I don't follow trends. It is a very personal service."
Blake hopes to get his supremely cut tweeds onto the London Fashion Week catwalk within the next two years, but he will always keep his base in the coastal clubbers' paradise town.
